This is the life.

Has this situation ever happened to you?

Me: Riley get your soda off the couch and go to the table. I don't want you to spill! (and me have to clean up)
Riley starts to head to the table and Dale starts to play a game with her. Keeping her from getting to the table.
Dale: Riley hurry Get to the table! (as he blocks her from getting there)

This happens 4 or 5 times and I realize whats happening and the second I try to stop it so the drink doesn't get spilled Dale accidentally grabs Riley the wrong way and the drink gets spilled on the carpet....

Before I have time to do anything Dale says: It was my fault don't get mad at her.

I wasn't going to...

Than Dale says : Can you clean it up. I don't know how to get that out of the carpet.

Are you freaking kidding me?

Giddy Up Little Piggies!

For the past couple weeks I have been staring at Makennas hair thinking that I needed to figure out something to do with it.
It was out of control.

See?

Ya...
So just as I had given up and had settled on the idea of a haircut i started playing with it and all if the sudden her hair was in pigtails!!!

I am DYING from her cuteness.
 SERIOUSLY?!
I am SO glad I didn't chop some of it off before I figured out this was possible!

Then after I did her hair i went to go pick up Bug. I was welcomed by the dang cutest cowgirl I have ever seen!

Its out of control!

You're my favorite deputy!

I might really die from cute overload.

Movie Feater

For Christmas Dale and I received an amc gift card from my sister! We were so excited Dale and I don't make it to the movies very often (its SO hard to spend money on movies. waaay to expensive nowadays!) so when people gift us movie money its like GOLD to us.

We actually received tickets from my parents too. SO PERFECT!
So with the amc movie card we decided that we were gonna take Bug to go see tangled.

My mom watched Mak and we took Riley on a date to do her FAVORITE thing with Mom and Dad!

We went and saw Tangled!

Cutest. Movie. Ever.
Seriously.

Dale and I loved it s much we were glad we decided to go to that movie. And of course Riley had a blast!

She LOVES the movies. She is constantly asking to go to the "Movie Feater" and we almost always have to tell her no. :(

So this day we decided to surprise her. She had no idea what we were doing until we started walking up to the theater!

She could barely hold in her excitement and I wasn't even going to try to get her too! It was too cute!
This whole walk up she was jumping up and down. I tried to get one of her in the air but i could never quite get it in time!

Trying to get this girl to look straight at my camera in the first place is a serious task. There was no way i was even gonna attempt to get one when there was a massive screen in front of her face.

See not gonna happen.
She will smile though... ha!

One of our attempts to take a picture of ourselves...
We will be doing this more. We will figure it out!

I am so glad we could take Bug to see this movie! So worth it!

Plus if you go to an early showing on a Saturday the tickets are only 5 bucks and the theaters are close to empty! PERFECT!

The bed that couldn't be

So I would show you pictures but I am so frustrated right now. Plus I didn't get the "after" photo that I wanted.

I will explain.

So A lady from my M-I-L ward GAVE us these GORGEOUS matching twin captains bed for the girls.
I couldn't believe it. I was so excited to get them painted and get Riley in one of them! So last night I finally got the motivation to do it and i spent all night from the time we put the girls to bed to about 1:30 this morning painting and putting some cute touches to them.

I cut up the bed skirt (since its a captains bed and they don't need them) to put some cute fabric touches on the doors on the bottom of the bed and I had some drawer knobs that I had bought about 6 months ago that I was dying to use on the doors.

Well I get EVERYTHING done and it looks SO good (if I do say so myself) and when Dale and I tried to move it into Riley Bugs room this morning we couldn't get it in the doors!!!!!! The frame is a MONSTER and it doesn't come apart and we couldn't do anything to wedge it into her room because the hallway is too narrow. It wont fit through the windows because they are half windows and there is no way it could be turned to fit.

FRUSTRATED!

So all that work I did to realize that I cant even get it into the room. Riley was so excited and so was I.

I guess her mattress will just be sitting on the floor for another couple weeks until we figure out weather we want to cut it in half (which would make it so that it would only last so long before the whole thing would crumble out) or go buy a different one.

I have scoured (?) craigslist and there is nothing that I even remotely want on there. I am DONE with the DIY stuff for a bed.... Too upset for that. I want something I can just put together and take apart that's in great condition, that needs no work. The only thing I have found that I can afford is a cheap 30 dollar one from ikea. I am sure it works and I am just about to suck it up and do it.

So upset.

First

Well, Here is my first project for the year!

My brother has been housing Riley Bug's tortoise since we moved and Riley lately has been begging for him to come home!

My brother kept reminding me that I needed to get something to stick him on since I had no other space to put him!

Yesterday, as I was looking at goodwill for something Dale reminded me that we had a dresser in the garage that we weren't using and that it would be perfect for what we needed!

So I went to Home Depot an bought the supplies I needed to fix up the ugliest dresser in history and came home!

It was just after 7 when I started.... I started the process inside with Kilz. I just laid a very large tarp down and rolled my hand muscles away!

(My hand KILLED after..
Its been too long since I touched a rolling pin.)

Then I moved the dresser out into the freezing dark night to finish the job by spray painting!

By the time I was done my fingers had frost bite, my toes had frost bite and I think my snot turned into icicles. TMI? sorry...

But I got it all done and overnight it dried up and this is the result.

Complete with turtle and all!

Can I just say how BIG this guy is getting?!
He used to be about the size of a quarter or silver dollar  and now he takes up the entire space of my palm. Its pretty cool!

Dale and I love the finished result and I cant wait to start the rest of the projects I have lined up to finish!

Maybe: It's a vicious little word that could slay me

So I am not gonna do a top posts of 2010.
I am not going to post all of my favorite pictures of 2010
(not that there is anything wrong with that, its just not me)
I don't have a long list of resolutions. I would fail anyway Not being pessimistic just being real.

I do have a few goals this year that I think are attainable.

1. Learn to sew better and do it often Maybe I will start posting all my projects!
2. Learn to save better. This has been a tough one for me and in 5 years and I have not made much progress.
3. DOCUMENT. I need to learn more about my camera and I need to take pictures of everything and EVERYONE!
(yes dale this means you! be ready!)
My only REAL resolution.... I never make resolutions because I know that I don't have the built in motivation or will-power to go past a week but this one i am gonna try hard and if I can make this work for a few months and make a habit out of it I will TRY the next step!
4. Workout more consistently. I don't eat all that healthy and I don't always feel great. I don't ever really have a lot of confidence in my appearance so I am taking one step towards bettering myself. exercise. If I can accomplish working out more I know that I could try to start eating better.

This is NOT to lose weight. This is NOT so that I can have a perfect body. There is no such thing. I just want more energy. I want to feel better about what I do everyday. I want to prove to myself that I can follow through with something.

I want confidence.

So all in all My word for the year is

CONFIDENCE

I want to find it in myself.
I want to find it in my talents.

I keep re reading this and It just feels sort of Debbie downer to me.
Its not supposed to be. I keep saying I DON'T
Maybe I should make a new year PHRASE instead of a word...

I DO!

Sounds like a cheesy motivational speakers catch phrase!
I am just trying to motivate myself. Sorry if this is depressing..
Wow.. I will probably just delete this in a couple hours.

hahaha

Christmas Part 2

Here are the pictures that I have from Christmas Morning! I am not that great at remembering to take pictures throughout the day but this is what I do have!

The stockings! I tried to get things so they could be hung on the fireplace but I never quite got there...
The money always seemed to make it to other things! ha ha
But I did find some at walmart half off yesterday so next Christmas our stockings will actually hang somewhere!

The pictures aren't great since I am still trying to figure the thing out but I am glad I at least have some pictures!

Riley Bug was very excited for her new shoes! They are a little big on her and very easy to slip on so she keeps calling them her pink slippers! Haha

This cute little ladybug spins around then flips over. It lost its flip somewhere in the middle of the day :( she still has fun with it though!

This movie has been a hit all around! LOVE IT!
Actually, Before I wrapped it Dale and I watched it while the girls were sleeping! We couldn't resist!

This was Dales BIG gift! He was so excited for it and he LOVES playing it! The Playstation Move is a GREAT workout and super fun!
(I should be getting paid for this!)

I thought this reaction was so cute! Before her Ariel doll was even out of the box she was loving on it!

She hasn't let it out of her sight since!
Mommy For the win!

Also My sister KayDee had us for Christmas so she made the girls matching cribs (they are super super cute I will put pics of them up later!!) and the girls love making sure their princess baby dolls are snug in their cribs!

I have been DYING for a new bag for a while now and I knew if I could just wait for Christmas I would get what I wanted! I was right! I LOVE this thing! Its perfect!

I didn't get any pictures of Makenna because she was asleep for most of it... I did get a video of her and Riley both opening their big gifts but those are super frustrating and time consuming to download. Maybe later!

I Won't

The pictures from our Christmas morning are not great so I am debating putting them up here I think I will end up swallowing my pride and putting them up here regardless specifically for journal purposes but besides that taking me a couple days to swallow I will tell you we had a
FANTASTIC
Christmas!

Like I said before Christmas for the Bug completely came alive this year. Everything was so real to her and she had so many things to look forward to!

She was so happy with her gifts and, like never before, has given every toy fantastic amounts of attention!!

Dale and I had a really fun Christmas ourselves and we are very happy with what Santa decided to gift us with this year!

We thought Riley was going to wake up early (just like she does EVERY DAY OF HER LIFE!) but no she woke up at 7 snuck a gift without mommy and daddy in the room and had to sit out a little for that but then we started opening gifts. It was a later start than even Dale and I wanted but we weren't about to wake anyone up for it!

Who needs grumpy babies on Christmas???
Not I!

So after our little families openings we went to My parents house and apparently we got there in perfect time!
ALL my family was there all at once!
15 kids, 24 grand kids and 2 parents stuffed into one little room!
A little claustrophobic
A little warm
Little room to move
But
FUN!

It wouldn't be Christmas without it!

It also wouldn't be Christmas without eating the Dent family Christmas breakfast!
Scrambled Eggs with turkey mixed in and a "side" of bacon!

YUMMMMM!

After that "little' get together we went to Mom and Dad Whipple's to open gifts there and talk to Lana on SKYPE!
Lana is on her mission in Chile and her ward mission leader allowed all the missionaries to come over an use their computer to skype their families! I was so good to SEE her! We had so much fun with that! The we headed back to Mom and Dad Dents for a little than went home got ourselves ready and made it over  to Mom and Dad Whipple's again for Christmas dinner!

We had fun after talking and playing Just Dance 2 video game that Dale gifted me for Christmas and a group "rendition" of  Super Mario Brothers!

We had A LOT of fun and hope that everyone else did too!

WHOO!

A foggy day in Jerome town

Dale had a birthday on Sunday so we knew we needed to have our own little celebration on Saturday. Dale said the only thing he wanted for his birthday was snow. Since I didn't think that would be quite possible (driving to snow takes just a little bit longer) I asked him if he would settle for cold. He agreed and I started planning! Someone had given me the idea to give him this trip for Christmas but since he asked for snow for his birthday I thought this would be even more perfect!

So off to Jerome we went!
We were so happy that we went on Saturday. The weather was AMAZING! We actually needed layers and the town had was completely covered in layers of fog! It gave it an almost eerie feeling. So amazing.

Dale could not have been happier! He said the way the roads were set up and the sidewalks and the little   narrow walkways between houses plus the cold and the fog reminded him exactly of one of the areas on his mission! For him to be able to sort of go back in time and remember all these things made the trip even more perfect!

I didn't get pictures of a lot of the old relics they had all over the town but this was funny! Dale tried to see if it actually still worked. Would have been so cool if it had!

I bet the people in the shops facing that old water fountain laugh at all the people that try to see if it works! ha ha

It was so foggy we could barely see in front of us and while we were walking around the curves of the roads not being able to see more than a few feet in front of us was one of the weirdest and creepiest sensations ever!

Before we read the description about this place Dale and I swore it was an old jail. It was the coolest building! It used to be something before it was burned down. It was the biggest building in Jerome so when they rebuilt it in the 1800's they rebuilt it with brick and for a while it was a reception center. And then a hotel before the structure started to crumble on itself!

Or something like that...

The coolest old doors ever! I told Dale I wanted to blow this picture up and hang it somewhere in our house!

Dale saw these old houses turned Bed and Breakfasts and Dale and I so badly want to buy a vacant one and start up our own. Within the first 10 minutes of the trip Dale said he wanted to make this place our permanent residence!

I am so glad Dale enjoyed his birthday surprise so much! We will definitely be going back!

Dale I hope you had a good birthday! I love you! You are the best!

{Enter Cheesy Christmas Cliche Here}

Somewhere along the lines of.....

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Christmas has come alive for this gorgeous girl this year. She has begged for decorations, for "making the tree" and it has been SO MUCH FUN watching her experience something that she might remember as she gets older. The magic of Santa has been a huge part of this years Christmas. Its fun to explain everything and watch her eyes as she soaks it up.

Dale and I wanted her to have some special time with us doing something special. So on Sunday when it  got to Mak's nap time we put her down and we decorated the tree with just Bug! She was in heaven and she was SO proud of herself!

At first when I saw the bottom of the tree I thought "I will rearrange those when she falls asleep but the more I looked at it the more I liked it! All the tiny ornaments are lining the bottom of the tree and it has a certain charm to it!

Merry Christmas
